MenoWell Healthy Sligo

‘MenoWell Healthy Sligo’ is a 6-week online evidence-based exercise, nutrition, and health education programme promoting wellness for women in all stages of adult life. This programme is designed to support, educate, and empower women in preparation for changes in midlife, for women experiencing the menopausal transition, and for supporting women in life after menopause.

This programme is starting on Tuesday 29th October at 8pm, and is aimed at women living in county Sligo.

Programme Overview:

  • 2 * 40-minute live online women- and menopause-specific multimodal exercise classes per week – Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm.
  • 1 * 30-minute live online women- and menopause-specific health education masterclass per week – Wednesdays at 1.30pm. Please note, these are recorded.
  • The health education masterclasses are supplemented with take-home resources including infographics summarising the masterclasses and nutrition recipes.
  • An on-demand library of women- and menopause-specific exercise videos and recorded health education workshops.

The 40-minute live online exercise classes are instructed in real-time and include a suitable warm up and cool down. These multimodal exercise classes improve your cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle strength and endurance, balance, and flexibility all within the one class! All exercise classes are designed by clinical exercise physiologists specifically for women of all ages and all fitness abilities, including those living with clinical conditions. The exercise videos included in the on-demand library can be performed at a time and a place most suitable to you, making it as easy as possible for you to be as fit and as healthy as possible, anytime, anywhere.

The 30-minute health education masterclasses are delivered by experts via Zoom and focus on different topics relating to women’s health and the menopause journey including muscle, bone, and cardiovascular health, healthy nutrition, sleep hygiene and self-care. These are recorded so you can watch them back at any time throughout the 6-week programme.

Please note, you will be asked to complete various short-answer questionnaires during this sign-up form and the end of the programme to determine any changes in physical activity participation, menopausal symptoms (if applicable), and wellbeing following the programme. All information is kept strictly private and confidential, and only group averages will be shared with the programme funders (no identifiable or individual data will be disclosed).

The ‘MenoWell Healthy Sligo’ programme is designed and delivered by EduFIT and funded by the Healthy Ireland Fund supported by the Department of Health, Healthy Sligo, Sligo County Council, Sligo Local Community Development Committee (LCDC), and the Government of Ireland.
