Dr Diane Cooper

Dr Diane Cooper is the CEO and founder of EduFIT. She is a clinical exercise physiologist and health researcher who has designed, delivered and evaluated community-based and online evidence-based health, fitness and wellness programmes for all adults since 2002, with particular focus on women’s health and menopause, exercise and lifestyle medicine for the management of chronic clinical conditions, and healthy functional ageing.

From 2011-2018 Diane coordinated and lectured on the (BSc.) in Sports Science with Exercise Physiology in TUS Midlands. She lectured and assessed a wide range of sports science and health modules during that time, but her specialist areas of expertise are clinical exercise physiology, applied exercise physiology, and the translation of research into practice. She is very experienced in the accreditation of health and fitness adult education modules, and health and fitness BSc, MSc., and PhD programmes.

Diane is a health researcher. Her PhD focused on exercise and lifestyle interventions for the treatment and management of obesity, insulin resistance and related clinical conditions. Her current research activities are in the areas of obesity, metabolic health, women’s health and menopause, healthy functional ageing, and sedentary behaviour. Her most recent research contract is with the European Space Agency investigating sedentary behaviour, healthy ageing, and effective countermeasures.

In her free time, Diane has spent many years competing in ultra-endurance mountain biking, running and kayaking events. Diane kayaked around Ireland in 2012 with John Bolton in aid of Laois and Offaly Hospices. This involved 14-17 hours of kayaking per day for 40 days self-supported. Diane and John also cycled around Ireland in 2015 for charity. This involved 15 hours per day for 7 days. Together, they have proudly raised ~100k for charity over the past number of years.

Diane is very passionate about health and fitness and is a very experienced expert in this space in industry, academia, research and practice over the past 20 years. She specialises in the translation of science (evidence) into practice for everyday healthy living. Her mission is to make it as easy as possible for everyone we work with to be as fit and healthy as possible.
