Prime Time of Life

‘Prime Time of Life’ is a 12-week multimodal exercise (aerobic, strength, flexibility, and balance) and health education programme for middle-aged and older adults, living with or without one or more long-term conditions (e.g. frailty, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, osteopenia, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s, and more).

In 2020, EduFIT in partnership with Laois Sports Partnership and funded by Sláintecare, Pobal, and the Government of Ireland, conducted a research study with Dublin City University to determine the efficacy of our ‘Prime Time of Life’ programme. The results showed significant increases in participants aerobic fitness, muscular fitness (strength, endurance, and power), balance, flexibility, physical activity participation, and perceptions of physical health, mental health, and quality of life. These results are consistent in all programmes (online and in-person) that have been delivered since by EduFIT and affiliate instructors across Ireland. Between 2021 to 2024, ‘Prime Time of Life’ was delivered multiple times online and in various communities across county Laois. We subsequently developed a CPD accredited train-the-trainer course ‘Prime Time PRO‘ to upskill fitness professionals across Ireland in practical application of clinical exercise physiology. These fitness professionals have delivered ‘Prime Time of Life’ in various locations in Longford, Wicklow and Mayo and there are plans to deliver it in Cork, Waterford and Wexford from September 2025. ‘Prime Time PRO‘ has allowed us to work with fitness professionals to increase the availability of and accessibility to high-quality, reproducible, evidence-based multimodal exercise and health education programmes for clinical populations across Ireland, where previous opportunities were limited. You can view testimonials from these fitness professionals here if interested.
