‘Prime Time of Life’ programme for Fitness Professionals
‘Prime Time of Life’ is our evidence-based 12‑week multimodal exercise (aerobic, strength, flexibility, and balance) and health education programme for middle-aged and older adults, living with or without one or more long-term clinical conditions (e.g. frailty, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, osteopenia, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s, and more). It is underpinned by clinical exercise physiology and is guaranteed to improve your participants strength, fitness, balance, mobility and perceptions of their physical health, mental health and wellbeing. You can read our ‘Prime Time of Life’ research papers HERE. We designed this programme for functional healthy ageing for all, and it is crucial in the prevention, treatment and management of numerous clinical conditions that are prevalent in Ireland and worldwide today. It is currently being delivered by the EduFIT team and fitness professionals throughout Ireland in their local communities and online. You are welcome to become an affiliate ‘Prime Time of Life’ instructor (additional license fee applies) post completion of our accredited Prime Time PRO course. Read below for full details.
What does the ‘Prime Time of Life’ programme include for your clients?
From a practical perspective, what is involved in you delivering the ‘Prime Time of Life’ programme?
It involves:
2 x 40 minute multimodal exercise classes per week for 12 weeks.
Each class starts with your 15-minute clinical warm-up as per your Prime Time PRO training. For your main phase, you provide Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and chair-based options for each exercise as per your Prime Time PRO training. You finish your class with your clinical cool down. You are welcome to use sample classes we provide to you in your Prime Time PRO resource pack.
1 x 15 minute health education workshop per week for 12 weeks.
The weekly health education workshops are essential (not optional) to the effectiveness and integrity of our evidence-based ‘Prime Time of Life’ programme. The programme can not be delivered without this component. They require delivery by the EduFIT multidisciplinary team of professionals (clinical exercise physiologists, nutritionists and health researchers). For this reason, we pre-record and brand these for you to play each week with your participants at the end of one of your exercise classes. On this day you would deliver a 40-minute multimodal exercise class followed by a 15-minute health education workshop.
If there are questions from participants, you are welcome to direct them to the EduFIT team and we will support you and your participants in this regard. Please see the workshop schedule below.
Pre and post programme testing.
You will implement a testing session covered in your Prime Time PRO training in the first and last class of the 12-week ‘Prime Time of Life’ programme. This will show the wonderful improvements your participants gained in strength, fitness, balance and perceptions of physical health, mental health and wellbeing.
This is very important to show your participants how far they have come as a result of your training which improves their adherence to exercise in the long term and client retention for you.
These results are also very important for instructors who are involved in writing funding applications for evidence-based, effective exercise programmes.
