‘MenoWell’

‘MenoWell’ is a 6-week women’s health and menopause-specific online multimodal exercise (aerobic, strength, flexibility and balance) and health education programme for women in all stages of adult life. ‘MenoWell’ was designed to support, educate, and empower women in preparation for changes in midlife, for women experiencing the menopausal transition (perimenopause), and for supporting women in life after menopause (post-menopause).

In 2023, EduFIT in partnership with Laois Sports Partnership and funded by Sport Ireland, conducted a research study to determine the efficacy of our ‘MenoWell’ programme. Our results show that ‘MenoWell’ improves cardiorespiratory fitness, upper- and lower-body muscular strength and endurance, lower-back and hamstring flexibility, menopausal symptoms, subjective wellbeing, and physical self-efficacy. These improvements have been evident in the subsequent online ‘MenoWell’ programmes delivered in partnership with and funded by Local Sports Partnerships, County Councils, LEADER partnerships, Healthy Counties, corporate organisations and more. Please read their testimonials below.

To date, 3617 women have completed ‘MenoWell’ across Ireland, with the majority of women rating the programme as ‘Excellent’ or ‘5-star’ and stating that they would recommend the ‘MenoWell’ programme to others.

What is involved in the ‘MenoWell’ programme for participants?

Participants have access to:

  • Pre- and post-testing: This can be conducted live online with an instructor in exercise classes in week 1 and week 6, or at-home in their own time using the ‘MenoWell’ at-home testing manual.
  • 1 * 30-minute live online (and recorded) evidence-based health masterclass per week on key topics related to women’s health and menopause such as muscle health, bone health, heart health, nutrition, sleep hygiene and self-care.
  • 2 * 40-minute live online evidence-based multimodal exercise classes per week.
  • An on-demand library of pre-recorded specific exercise videos to perform if they would like to complete additional training or use as a substitute for a live online exercise class.
  • Weekly take-home resources including infographics of the key points of the health masterclasses and recipes.

Participants will have lifetime access to the on-demand library so they can continue to use the exercise videos and watch the health masterclasses after the programme ends.

How is the ‘MenoWell’ programme delivered?

The ‘MenoWell’ programme is currently delivered by the EduFIT team. This programme can be delivered online or through a hybrid format combining online and in-person delivery.
