By the end of this course you will be able to:

  1. Define and differentiate between perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause and medical menopause, and explain the key hormonal changes involved.
  2. Identify the common signs and symptoms of menopause and use appropriate tools to track and monitor symptoms.
  3. Explain the role of key hormones involved in menopausal transition and how these influence health, exercise tolerance, and training adaptation.
  4. Apply the F.I.T.T. principles to design safe, evidence-based, multimodal exercise programmes and group classes for women in peri and post menopause, considering relevant clinical issues.
  5. Describe and educate the women you train on the specific health benefits of aerobic, resistance, balance and flexibility training in this phase of life.
  6. Adapt and deliver exercise sessions in practice to meet current physical activity and exercise guidelines for women in peri and post menopause.
  7. Design exercise sessions that are safe and effective for women with prevalent clinical conditions such as osteopenia, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, sarcopenia, and related comorbidities.

For Trained Women

8. Prescribe progressive training programmes using principles of General Adaptation Syndrome, overload, recovery and periodization, including appropriate use of S.I.T., H.I.I.T. and plyometric training for this population.
